We%26#39;ve not been to Corpus since our college days, and are planning a mini-vacation first week of August in Corpus. What is a family-friendly place to stay? Somewhere where we won%26#39;t spend all of our time walking or driving to get somewhere but can actually do things near/in our hotel?
Any suggestions of family-friendly places to eat that are local (not chain -- we can get that at home)?
Thanks in advance!

To be close to most of the ';things to do'; I would suggest you stay downtown. If you are planning to spend some time at the beach (Mustang Island or North Padre Island) you should stay in or near Port Aransas.
Here in Corpus Christi I would suggest the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach. Property is a bit dated but kid-friendly with both an indoor pool and a children%26#39;s playscape. The beach is just out the rear of the hotel and the hotel location is a short drive to most of the attractions:
USS Lexington Museum
Texas State Aquarium
Museum of Science and Natural History (Columbus Ships)
Selena Memorial
Art Museum of South Texas
Museum of Asian Cultures
Whataburger Field
Local Restaurants downtown worth trying include:
Water Street Oyster Bar
Executive Surf Club
Brewster Street Ice house
Pier 99
