Where to stay?

After reading some more posts, it seems that downtown is rather desolate at night. Where in Houston would you recommend staying for a lively atmosphere. I heard that the Uptown area of Dallas is the active area and not downtown. Does Houston have an area like this?

Where to stay?

Yes, this would be our Galleria area. Lots of hotels, dining and shopping.

Where to stay?

Hi Jax,

The Galleria area,as suggested is a good area for lots of fun things to do, day or night. The main street, Westheimer, is full of shopping, restaurants, etc. There is a nice Drury Inn, in that area, and try the Hotel Indigo, for a nice place to base your enjoyment of Houston. There are also some good bed and breakfasts in the more historical area of town, as well:

(rememebr when looking at the B and B%26#39;s, that Galveston is at the coast, and a good hour from H-town.)

I would also recommend the Montrose area; it is our arts and kinda funky/cool area of town--tons of good places to eat, clubs, etc.

When looking for restaurants in H-town, go to:

Great website for looking for places to eat, listen to live music, eat or drink on a nice outdoor patio and enjoy the Texas moon (it is Our moon, isn%26#39;t it?! ;)--notice that on the main page there, you can input what area of town, from a pull-down menu.

hope this helps and you have a great time here!
