Bad areas of Killeen, Texas

I just stayed at the Best Western on E. Veteran%26#39;s Memorial Hwy in Killeen, Texas. There%26#39;s nothing like being woken up at 3 a.m. by the sound of gunfire. I called down to the front desk, but no one answered. So I called 9-1-1. I went out and met the police and we noticed that there was no one in the management office--despite the claim that someone is on the premisis 24/7. The officer told me that this part of Killeen is pretty bad. She said that the better part of the town is along the 190 Freeway..near the Killeen Mall. Ironically, this is where I was slated to move, as the Best Western was booked for the remainer of my three-week stay.

Yeah, that whole area around the Rancier/Veterans Memorial area isn%26#39;t the greatest. During the day it%26#39;s not too bad but at night it%26#39;s best to stay away from those parts.
