Crossing into Mexico

Can you still go into Mexico without a passport? I have seen several questions on the subject. Can you get back into the US easily? Where would you cross over at? We would like to ride motorcycles over the Mexican border. Mid-May is when we are taking a trip.

Crossing into Mexico

Until June 1, you only need proof of citizenship to get back into the United States when traveling by land. After June 1, you will need a passport or passport card, or other documents on the DHS list. All of the info can be found here -- travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

It%26#39;s about a three hour drive from Corpus Christi to the border.

Crossing into Mexico

Be careful going into Mexico. Many drugrelated gang wars going on. Newspapers often mention casualties.

I agree that I be EXTREMELY cautious crossing int Mexico. While tourists a obviously welcomed and accommodated there are many dangers and it%26#39;s quite possible simply to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The most popular (and safe) border town driving distance from Corpus Christi is Nuevo Progresso. The town is small and survives on tourists from across the border. Travel reports I have read suggest it is relatively free of drug war violence and the ';safest'; of the border towns for tourists to visit. Day trips via bus continue to run from Corpus Christi to Progress, Mexico.

One such day trip:
