I need to come to Houston on business and was wondering if anyone has a preference between IAH and HOU? I%26#39;m coming in from San Diego and Southwest has a non-stop to Hobby while Continental has a non-stop to George Bush. I will be going to the Stafford area.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Which airport? George Bush or Hobby
Since your destination is Stafford, it probably won%26#39;t matter too much which airport you come into. Hobby is a smaller airport on the southeast side of town, Bush is larger and on the north side. Your cost and arrival/departure options may decide which airport to use, too.
Welcome to Houston.

IAH airport
Hobby might be just a tad closer but IAH is a better nicer more efficient airport. If the prices are the same - toss a coin!
As others have said, HOU is roughly closer than IAH, but not by much. It just boils down to the price of each flight and which airline you prefer to fly. My preference would be IAH and CO.
Hobby is several miles closer to Stafford. You won%26#39;t have to cross town from/to Hobby which would be a big plus if rush hour gets involved.
Hobby all the way. You can take the beltway around from the south, and the traffic is *MUCH* lighter on that side of the loop, especially during rush hour, when you can take 90 over to the beltway going east, and see virtually nothing, versus taking 59 to the beltway going north, which backs up horribly.
I also prefer that Hobby is much smaller -- getting in/out is much faster for the experienced traveler.
Getting from Hobby to the highway is a little slower than IAH to the beltway, but not really by all that much. Just head straight down 35 to the beltway, and you%26#39;re set.
Definitely Hobby (HOU). Either take I-45 south to Sam Houston Tollway westbound or take Airport Blvd westbound and turn left on Telephone Road. It has several traffic lights, but it will also get you to Sam Houston Tollway (aka Beltway 8).
Hobby is MUCH easier to get in and out of and you will be in Stafford in no time via the Beltway (tolls not sure but about $1-$2 one way towards U.S.59) . If you look at a Houston map, you will see that Hobby would be more convenient.
Hi B,
Oceanside Cali? I Love it!!!
I agree with the op about the airport for you. I Seriously suggest that you rent one with your car, or bring your own GPS with you; our freeways can be tricky, without one! We always pack ours, when we travel--anywhere--now!
Enjoy H-town!
Ciao,ciao,
Cupcake
