I have been reading all about the different hotels and areas (strand..seawall..etc) in Glaveston. We are 3 families, with 3 kids total, coming in for a cruise out of Galveston in Feb. 2010. We usually like to be in the middle of everything - will not have a car. That being said, I am usually partial to Hilton and another family partial to Marriott brands.
With the festivities going on, is it worth the Wyndham? The Hilton Galveston resort - how far is this from the parades and %26#39;excitement%26#39; in general?
My son is the youngest at 6 so we plan to enjoy a day at the Houston NASA museum and then head to Galveston for another night. Will get any sleep with all the revelers that weekend?? :-)
Precruise during Mardi Gras - with kids
There are 2 Wyndham properties in Galveston, The Tremont and the Hotel Galvez.
The Tremont is located in the Strand, the Galvaz is on the Seawall. The Hilton is also on the Seawall.
If you want it quieter, avoid the Strand area.
There are trolley buses that run along the tourist areas, so getting around shouldn%26#39;t be too big a problem.

How %26#39;far%26#39; is the HIlton from the Strand area? The trolleys runs there too? Are there nice places to eat or shop or things to see around the Hilton area? I understand it will not be beach weather and we will not have a car so want to make sure we are close to things. Many thanks!
Here is information on the trolley system, along with a map showing the route.

There are all kinds of restaurants around the Hilton. Not certain what is around for entertainment, you%26#39;ll probably find more to do around the Strand or in the historic areas.
Galveston.com is also a good place to find things to do, etc.
