Close to airport - nice place to eat, drink and enjoy

I am looking for a place within 30 minutes to 1 hr from the Bush Intercontinental airport to take my friend out for a night who is going to be in town for a night. Any suggestions????

One hour drive include downtowwn and Galleria area too.

Overall good places in Houston (there was another thread on the same topic - might get more info there):

Chez Nous - Humble

Chimmi Churro (sp?) Kingwood

Raffa%26#39;s - Kingwood (I am not a fan but other like it)

Cafe Annie (Galleria)

Remington - Galleria

Grove - Downtown

Here is a start - Chez Nous will be the closest - from the outside it does not look much - the food / service is great. It is not cheap either.

Hi C,

There is not a lot of upscale IN Humble, but it is a nice little place!

I was very disappointed in Chez Nous, and it is NOwhere near upscale, per the decor, ambience, etc. It reeked of cigarrette smoke when we went, as you can (Sadly!) still smoke in restaurants in Humble (as they are not part of Houston proper).

For an enjoyable meal, good food, and calm ambience, try ';Italiano%26#39;s';--it is acorss from the mall in Humble, and the food is very good. On a week night, it is not overly busy, and you can ask for a table in the back room.

You might also consider Carraba%26#39;s in Kingwood, if you have the time (another 15 min away); much better ambience, decor and good food, as well. They make Italian food, and a killer steak marsala.

For both of those places, a weekday meal is much calmer and relaxing; weekends get turbo.

Do watch your flight time, so that you leave enough room to get Back through security for your flight, though after 7pm, it is usually easy going.

Here is a link to yelp reviews for Chez Nous.

Never had a bad meal at Chez Nous - if it was cheaper would go more often. For years and years Chez Nous has been rated one of the top restuarants.

Try Mark%26#39;s (inner loop near Montrose) http://www.marks1658.com/

Bistro Calais (inner loop/Upper Kirby area) http://www.bistrocalais.com/

Sambuca (downtown) http://www.sambucarestaurant.com/

What about going to The Woodlands. There%26#39;s Jaspers, the new America%26#39;s or Kirby%26#39;s Steak House.

There%26#39;s Reef and Ibiza in Midtown, and then you%26#39;re just within walking distance to a few bars for an additional night cap.

Hi C,

In my reply to you, I assumed you had to get back to IAH for a flight. I agree that if you don%26#39;t have that worry,I would go to Ibiza in Midtown (about 35 minutes from the airport, on a weeknight,especially--little or no traffic).

Ibiza is upscale, comfortable and the food is great; try the pomme frites with parmesan snow,or the crabcake appetizers. Don%26#39;t miss sharing the generous portions of their chcolate epsresso bread pudding--Wow! Ask for their homemade bread, they don%26#39;t bring it unless you request it. For a business dinner, the ambience is perfect!
