Trip Report

Just returned from a three night stay in SA, which was our annual girls trip. Had a great time. Stayed at the Drury Inn / Riverwalk, which we loved. Although there was no particular view of the Riverwalk (more of the neighboring rooftops), it didn%26#39;t matter since we spent so little time at the hotel. Loved the morning free breakfast, Happy Hour (free drinks and snacks) and the rooftop pool and jacuzzi. We spent quite a bit of time at the Riverwalk and enjoyed Rio Rio for an early evening light meal and drink. Also visited Scilos deli (on the recommendation of this forum)and had a great lunch. On the recommendation of some other travelers we encountered, we visited the Tower of America, and had a late afternoon drink, appetizer and salad, which were all delicious and affordable. The staff treated us as if we were ordering a high end meal. Also on the recommendation of this forum, we ate at MiTierra and LaMargarita, and had very good Tex-Mex meals. Again, very nice staff, who couldn%26#39;t have been more accomadating. We viewed ';The Alamo'; at the IMAX, which was a good suggestion from the forum, as it really gives you a nice overview of the history of the Alamo before you actually visit the site. Other activities we enjoyed were shopping at Market Square and LaValitta, boat ride in the evening on the Riverwalk, and viewing the Passion Play c/o San Fernando Catholic Church on Good Friday. The only negative was the Alamo Trolley, which was way overpriced for a 1-hour tour of the city. The trolley%26#39;s air conditioning wasn%26#39;t working and it was hot as h*** in that thing. The guide was terrible. We did much better on foot. Would definitely NOT recommend. Overall, this was a great trip and all of the people we encountered couldn%26#39;t have been nicer. The SA people seemed to genuinely enjoy the tourists visiting their city. We will definitely come back. Hate to be back in Philly, where it is raining and cold!

Thanks for the fun %26amp; detail TR, it was a pleasure to read. You must have done the trolley on Thursday when the temp got to the record high 99. I also feel the trolley tour is a little overprice but most things are nowadays. Glad to hear that you had a great time for your annual girl weekend.
