We will be going to Riverwalk next week for vacation.
Would like to have some good BBQ there.
I have read mixed reviews on county line bbq.
Any suggestions?
we will be staying downtown so something close to there would be great.
Thanks
Good Bbq
Auggies at the entrance to Brackenridge Park..Although I usually choose Rudys, this place is just as good and a lot closer..Besides Rudy%26#39;s dosent have pulled pork..Thanks Octoboy...
Good Bbq
The best BBQ around is ';Rudy%26#39;s'; but there is not one downtown. There are several ';Bill Miller%26#39;s'; downtown. Bill Miller%26#39;s is a local chain of BBQ restaurants. A far cry from Rudy%26#39;s though, and not as good as the County Line. If you%26#39;re stuck downtown, I%26#39;d go with County Line. If you can get out towards Sea World and Hyatt Hill Country Resort, go for Rudy%26#39;s. Another option is ';The Smokehouse';. I think it was formerly the legendary ';Bob%26#39;s Smokehouse';. Still not downtown, but closer than Rudy%26#39;s.
If you are driving through TEXAS, there are several locations of Rudy%26#39;s . 3 in San Antonio, 1 in New Braunfels, Round Rock north of Austin, Waco

IMO County Line isn%26#39;t that bad, it%26#39;s pretty good. Also Bill Miller%26#39;s in the downtown area is pretty good for a fast food BBQ. Augie%26#39;s Barbed Wire Smoke House at 3709 N. St. Mary is very good.
If you are driving in from Shreveport you can stop on the way for some great BBQ like near Austin you have Elgin%26#39;s or you could go to Luling to City Market that has excellent BBQ. Here is a TX BBQ Trail website so it depends on which way you are coming that you could stop for some excellent BBQ.
www.texasbbqtrail.com/ these are the best.
Thanks everyone
Ah, driving in from Shreveport, there are some excellent stops along the way... Those back country BBQ pits are actually the best you can find anywhere.
Do you know what route you will take?
In SA: (1) Rudy%26#39;s Leon Spring - order Moist (2) The Smokehouse (was Bobs #1)(one of the best in the state, the late Doc Holiday from Rudy%26#39;s was a student of Bob%26#39;s), (3) Old Smokehouse (was Bob #3) (the pitman here another student of Bob, I think for 26 years).
I am not a fan of either County Line in SA.
Driving on IH 10 from Houston, Pitstop in either Luling or Lockhart, cannot go wrong in either toen for BBQ
Stayed in San Antonio last week and went to The County line on the riverwalk. The ribs were the worst I have ever had.dried out as though reheated in the microwave.Tony Romas would have beaten it hands down.
