Houston Seafood

Im going to be in Houston soon and want to enjoy some fresh seafood. Here is my criteria.

1. By the water. I want to see boats.

2. prefer not to be a chain but if its a chain see rule 1.

3. Needs a beer crowd and more people in shorts than suits.

4. atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere.

5. no JOes Crab Shack, no Papadeauxs.

I want a relaxing place I can have a beer and some good food with some good people after a long day of work.

Thanks

Houston Seafood

In the city itself, definitely #1 will not be satisfied.

Where are you staying or does distance not matter?

Houston Seafood

Kemah and Galveston are your two best bets.

The boardwalk in Kemah has largely been bought out by the Pappa%26#39;s and Landry%26#39;s chains, but still has great seafood. The Flying Dutchman should meet your goals... Depending on the season, you can watch shrimpers going in/out for hours.

There are many restaurants along the walk there, so you can pick the one most like what you seek. Every one has at least passing seafood, and a few have some very good seafood.

In Galveston, there%26#39;s not much in the way of boat-watching that I can think of, but you can still get some decent seafood, if you will be down that way.

I would go to Outriggers Seafood Grill %26amp; Oyster Bar in Seabrook, about 20 miles south of Houston. It meets ALL your criteria - on the water with boat slips, not a chain, good cold beer, no suits very casual, and NOT a Laundry%26#39;s restaurant. Shrimp tacos are really good, they also have crawfish, hot seafood dip is yummy. Lots to choose from.

I will be staying in Channelview.

What happened to my post from yesterday????

Let%26#39;s see - in a nut shell what I said was Kemah is about it. It is all Pappa%26#39;s and Landry%26#39;s. There is a one of a kind on the other side with a marina - been there once - but #4 was not that good. Kemah (board walk) will be it for #4. The food is actually good as it is fresh - make sure you order something that was caught in the gulf. After a few #3%26#39;s - #4 is all that would matter anyway!!

In my opinion of the Kemah eateries, Landry%26#39;s has the best outdoor seating area by the water .

You may also want to check out Brady%26#39;s Landing with views of the ship channel - not sure of them having a ';beer crowd';.
