I am new to TX (almost one year) and live in Grapevine. I am intrigued by all the inexpensive ethnic restaurants in Arlington. Just last Sunday we tried First Chinese BBQ--SW corner of Pioneer Parkway and Collins. Excellent food--the best Chinese we have found so far. It was packed with 90% of the customers being Chinese. A few months ago we had the lunch buffet at Biryani House (Indian) on Cooper just south of UT--very delicious and what a value at $5.99!
Suggestions for Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Pizza? Who needs chain restaurants?!!! Thanks.
Inexpensive Ethnic Restaurants
Pho 95 at the corner of Arkansas %26amp; 360 has very good Vietnamese.
The best inexpensive Vietnamese and Thai food is in Haltom City. My Lan at Beach %26amp; Belknap for Vietnamese and Nipa%26#39;s Kitchen on Broadway for Thai.
Inexpensive Ethnic Restaurants
There is a Thai restaurant in that same area of Arkansas and 360 that is pretty good two. nothing good in Mansfield yet!
Can%26#39;t help you much in Arlington but here are my favorites for the Mid-Cities:
Pizza- Tony%26#39;s (Rufe Snow and Mid-Cities Blvd)
Chinese- Hunan Wok (820 and Rufe Snow)
Tex Mex- Mi Rae%26#39;s (Denton Hwy, Watauga)
Italian- La Bistro (Grapevine Hwy, Hurst)
Pho 95 and My Lan are two of my favorites Vietnamese restaurants. Try the Tapioca express next to Pho 95 for Boba Teas. Cash only at My Lan and Tapioca express. I like King Tut%26#39;s in Ft. Worth for Mediteranean. The Thai place near Pho 95 is called Taste of Thai and is very good. There%26#39;s another Indian place on Fielder and Randol Mill called the Tandoor, haven%26#39;t been in a while so don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s still good. Kowloon on Center and Pioneer Pkwy was good for dim sum on weekends. Again, haven%26#39;t been in a while so can%26#39;t vouch for it lately. We recently went to a dim sum place in Richardson on I-75 and Polk on the east side of 75 upstairs. Very good, but very crowded. There%26#39;s also take out Chinese BBQ pork and other interesting dishes inside the Hong Kong Market on Arkansas and New York.
I like Corky%26#39;s pizza on Little Road, you can bring your own beer and wine. Have tried Los Amigos on NW hiway in Grapevine for Tex Mex.
Pho 95 on Arkansas and 360, as has been said already, is very good. There%26#39;s also a great lebanese place called Beirut Cafe that is excellent, located on S. Cooper, right down the street from Biryani House.
We eat at the Tandoor (fielder and randol mill) fairly often for lunch. They have a great buffet (lunch only, I think). I am no expert ,and half the time, I don%26#39;t really know what I am eating, but I like it and keep going back even if I smell like curry for a day or two....
Arlington on east Pioneer Pkwy has some great asian food choices. Great place to try new types of food.
A little hole in the wall is on Pioneer Pkwy called Cafe Europa. It is actually authentic Russian food. On saturdays they teach Russian speaking and around the Easter, they teach Ukranian EAster egg painting...very lovely.
Oddly, I found it because they sell Russian paraphrenalia on ebay and in the shop.I was looking for a Samovar.
Correction: the Russian restaurant in Arlington is called Taste of Europe.
Anyway, I just spotted a brand new Indi-Pakistani hole in the wall restaurant. I don%26#39;t know the name, but it is on the south side of Green Oaks at Cooper. I haven%26#39;t been there, but if someone else goes before I get there, let us know how it is.
Really good Middle Eastern food at Cafe Beirut on S Cooper near UTA. Great fresh Mexican food at Mijos on W Park Row between Fielder and Bowen.
