Tent camping

Can anyone sugggest a nice place to camp closet to the ocean. we will be tent camping are are looking for a nice campground clsoe to the beach.

There are really no campgrounds where you can put a tent close to the beach. There is Isla Blanca Park at the south end of the island and I%26#39;m sure they must have a tenting area (it is an RV park). Although it incorporates the beach, the RV park is a short distance from the actual water.

There is a KOA but I don%26#39;t know if they have an area for tents...it is not on the beach.

Your best bet may be camping on the north end of the island. The beaches of Texas are all public and you can pitch your tent right on the sand. You may have to go fairly far north to get away from the crowds and, frankly, I don%26#39;t know how safe camping is up there by yourselves.

An idea might be to call the Cameron County Parks office on the island at 956-761-5494. They run Isla Blanca Park and one on the north end of SPI.

Are you sure you want to camp? I guess the park at the north end of the island is the place to camp. It is so hot, etc that I would not camp at SPI. But I need the comfort of a condo
