Fun/Entertaining places to eat in Houston

My husband and I (and another couple) will be driving through Houston, TX on a Friday evening in May, we will be doing so right around Dinner time and thought it would be nice to make a stop and eat somewhere...

So I need help trying to find some local eateries that would be a fun/different experience for us to check out on our trip through Houston.

Fun/Entertaining places to eat in Houston

If you%26#39;re driving on I-10, I want to say the Bunker Hill exit, you can stop by Goode Co. BBQ. It has that Western Saloon style atmosphere to it. It%26#39;s been a while since I%26#39;ve been there, but my parents go often.

If you don%26#39;t mind driving into the city a bit, and craving hamburgers, there%26#39;s Lil Big%26#39;s close to the corner of Westheimer and Montrose. They serve slider-sized beef burgers, chicken patties, or %26#39;shroom burgers (for vegetarians).

What could also be interesting, but have yet to visit, is the House of Blues in Downtown. If you%26#39;re on your way back to San Antonio on a early Sunday, their Gospel Brunch sounds interesting!

Niko Niko%26#39;s, vicinity of Montrose Blvd %26amp; Westheimer Road, Central Houston

What is Niko%26#39;s like?

^oh nevermind I found their website... looks tempting.

I%26#39;d second Niko Nikos! If you love Greek food, it%26#39;s the best in Houston!

Hi J,

I agree with Niko Niko%26#39;s--lots of good food for the money, busy, interesting place..seating outside, if the weather is good! It is in an interesting part of Houston, as well, so you can drive around and see some of the %26#39;old and new%26#39;, in the same n-hood! If you like Greek food, get the Greek sampler plate--to Share...easily feeds 2 (or even 3!). Get the boiled Greek potatoes with that, and order a Gyro, and the the handcut fries, with that..carbs? who cares, when they are This good!!

Hope you enjoy H-town!!

Which freeway are you driving on? Do you have a food preference? Tex-Mex...Indian...New American...Diner style?

If you want some unique ambiance...an experience as well as food try the Aquarium. It is right off of I-45 and easy to get to.

Sambuca%26#39;s is always fun. It%26#39;s a jazz bar and great if you want to get a feel for the spice underneath the culture here.

And I second (or seventh?) Niko, Niko. That place is central to our treasured art culture.

Chuy%26#39;s on Westheimer, for sure.

We will be driving on IH10. Not picky on the type of food, was just hoping to maybe find something that would be and ';experience'; in itself or rather entertaining (i.e. Medieval times, diner theaters or even chain restaurants like DandB%26#39;s, Rainforest cafe, the Melting Pot - but we have all these in San Antonio too, so wouldn%26#39;t be that interested in them) but also something unique to the area.
