humidity in october

hi all ...we may be traveling to houston the first week of october, i know how humid the summers are there. Will it still be like that in october?..i know it will still be warm which is fine, but i can%26#39;t handle the humidity. thanks!

It%26#39;s always humid in Houston, it%26#39;s near the Gulf.

It depends when in October. If it is early October, I would count on it being humid %26amp; hot (mid-80s) also with a chance of a hurricane. Ike came the latter part of September, but its ramifications (i.e. no electricity, traffic lights out, down trees) lasted through October.

Late October it can be a mixed bag. Cool nights, mid-70s, sometimes dry. The humidity can be easier to handle in the cooler temps.

October is a funky month. By Halloween, it is usually either still warm (cooled off some from summer, but still 80%26#39;s for the highs) *or* perhaps a cold front has come through and cooled it off. It%26#39;s hard to pick a Halloween costume here, because sometimes it%26#39;s cold and sometimes it%26#39;s hot on that day. I remember many a cold Halloween and many a sweaty one.

Yes, it%26#39;s humid most of the year in Houston, but the humidity dies down when a cold front comes through from the north, which happens repeatedly in cycles throughout late fall, all of winter and early spring.

We have a mild cool front coming through as I type this... today, in April, but it%26#39;s a wet one. The ones in the winter tend to dry out the air, which is awful if your skin is accustomed to the humidity!

October will be a good month to visit. Difficult to predict the temp - but should be comfortable. It is never unbearable temp or humidity - in Oct.

I kind of disagree it may not be humid to us but to someone who hates humidity it could be awful. The first week of October I would predict to be hot and humid. Like others have said there is chance of a front coming through and cooling things off but that usually happens later in October.

October is the best month, weather-wise, in Houston. However, some days can also be hot and humid.

The OP says that s/he ';can%26#39;t handle the humidity.'; If that is really true, then I%26#39;d advise against coming to Houston ever. Just about any time of the year you stand the chance of having a hot and humid day here.

The first week of October may still have remnants of the summer but it starts to cool off soon after later in the month. No guarantees.

Hi G,

I would say October is one of the best months to visit Texas; you will get a touch of summer, and yet, can get one of those %26#39;excellent%26#39; days we have that are sunny, clear and cool. ';Low'; humidity to a Houstonian, is about 70%, though! Gotta admit, this humidity is great for the complexion! :) October is not usually the %26#39;stifling%26#39; humidity of the summer months, which can last through September.

Also, SO many places have air conditioning here, you probably won%26#39;t be as bothered by it, as you think! Plus, our wonderful people outweigh the weather, any old day!

okay..there is no doubt that October is our best month. And the chances of humidity are the lowest during this month. I love October in Houston.

The advice I give all my friends traveling to Houston is to bring a sweater. This is because most people feel that we keep our air conditioning on ';freeze';. And we move from our ac homes to our ac cars and our ac shops and offices. we just simply do not go out except during the lovely month of October and some of November. And there are some very nice days in January as well but that is not reliable.

Most of my guests complain more of being cold inside than hot outside. Oh, and Houston has an advantage over a lot of Texas--we have a nice breeze in the evenings...

Yep, humid-are you still going? LOL. J/K! :)
