July 4th week - my suggestions from years of going

It%26#39;s busy. However, I%26#39;ve managed to have a great time and prefer this time to go. The key is to stay somewhere quieter. I%26#39;ve stayed at the Bridgepoint (one of my favorites), but the area has many new taller complexes, thus more folks in a condensed area. My new favorite is the Beach House I %26amp; II condos. It%26#39;s an older complex, but gated %26amp; maintained. It%26#39;s only 5 or 6 stories tall for each of the 3 buildings with only 4 units per floor, so it doesn%26#39;t get crowded, even on the 4th. We usually have both pools to ourselves. I have had good luck renting directly from the owner. You will find better values and better kept properties this way, instead of going thru an agency, but that%26#39;s just my preference.

Last year we took 3 families down (total of 17) and stayed that week and was perfect (except weather!). I always ask for the same condo because I know the owner keeps it up and I enjoy the great view and location. I%26#39;ve having to give up my week this year, but hope to be back next. Try www.findvacationrentals.com (our unit #6154) or rentalo.com also instead of just VRBO. That%26#39;s how I found mine. Our unit was 2/2. One king, 2 doubles, and a sleeper sofa. There was also an additional sofa in the living room (not sure if it made into a bed) and a smaller one in the master. My sister rented a larger unit from the same owner and my brother went thru an agency. All had washers %26amp; dryers. The Brewery isn%26#39;t even a block away.

Patticakes -- We are headed to SPI in July, but the week AFTER July 4. We%26#39;ll be there July 6-9. With the 4th being on a Saturday this year, do you expect ';my'; week to also be very busy, or is it usually the week before the 4th? We%26#39;re staying at Gulfview II and will do one day on the beach and one day at Schlitterbahn. Thanks for any info. Kellie

Kellie - I think you will be fine. It seems worse on the weekend. Our week before is usually not too crowded until towards the end of the week - Fri, Sat, Sun. Enjoy your time!
