Route 66-Need Help

Hi All,

I am trying to paln a road trip for myself, my husband and my sis for October and need some help.

We have 8 to 10 days to do the route 66, starting in Chicago and ending in LA. I want to make the most of the trip as it will our last holiday for awhile, so I was wondering, where should we stop, what should we see? and where should we stay??

I know there have been loads of posts on Route 66 an dI have been reading through them but I am hoping someone may have done this route in the 8-10 days we have.

Also, is it possible to by-pass the Grand caynon and Las Vegas as we have visited them before? or this there more we should see around the Grand Caynon??

Any help would be so gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Grand Canyon and Las Vegas are not on Route 66, so you won%26#39;t go through them without a detour.

In the Amarillo area, you might like to visit Palo Duro Canyon. If you do a stopover in the area, the Panhandle Plains Museum on the campus of West Texas A %26amp; M in the town of Canyon is interesting.

New Mexico is rewarding in many ways and I would definitely break my trip there, turning North out of Albuquerque and visiting Santa Fe, Taos and the little villages around there. If you have time the drive from Taos to Chama is extremely scenic and shouldn%26#39;t be too far out of your way.
