Tent camping

Can anyone advise which is nicer for a campground for tenting, Padre Island National Park or Mustang island? Are they close to each other? We would like to stay in a cmapground real close to the beach but still have a picnc table etc from a campground.

Thanks

South Padre Island is some 3.5 hours driving south of Port Aranasa. I%26#39;m not a camper but know there%26#39;s a campground south of Port A at Mustand Island State Park. real close to the beach Tx361) Between Mustang Island and SPI you are not driving along the shore and no such thing as Padre Island National Park.

There is the Padre Island National Seashore - Malaquite Beach Area which is not far from Mustang Island. Here is the link to their website:

Both places are pretty nice, but Mustang Island is considerably closer to stores, restaurants and other amenities than Malaquite Beach.

Have a good trip!

Here is the website for Mustang Island camping information.

Personally I am not a camper so my opinion is not worth much but...

The Natonal Seashore is undeveloped and kept ';natural';.

Mustang Island has developments...condos, resturants, etc.

If you want to be a little isolated in the middle of nature with great views of the night sky with little light pollution choose Padre Island National Seashore. If you want to be close to modern coveniences choose Mustang Island. The two are no more than a 30 minute drive apart.
