where to stay

I will be travelling with three of my buddies (all in our late 40s) at the end of July to see a game at Minute Maid Park on a Friday nite and are not leaving to go back to NY until Sunday. Where would we best served to stay to take advantage of all that Houston has to offer both day and especially Saturday nite and not have to do any (or a limited amount of driving) driving to do a bar/club crawl?

Book into one of the Central Houston Hotels, such as Icon. or the like, as soon as possible. All are walkable to MMP, and are are crawlable from Main Street Strip.

I have been very successful is getting the Hilton which is walking distance from Minute Maid Park several times through Priceline. The weekend gives you an even better chance because the downtown hotels are usually under capacity on Friday and Saturday nights. Use www.biddingfortravel.com for priceline strategies for downtown Houston. I have never paid over $80.00 for a downtown Houston Hotel. Even got one through Priceline during the NLCS a couple years ago.

Plenty of activities to keep you busy in the downtown area.

Limited driving - close to MM Park - any of the DT hotels would do - Hilton, Magnolia, Icon to name a few.

Don%26#39;t forget the Inn at the Ballpark which is the closest to Minute Maid. It%26#39;s next door to Vic %26amp; Anthony%26#39;s, a rather nice steakhouse.

Don%26#39;t know much about Downtown nightlife but many of the hotels can drop off and probably pick you up from a number of Midtown restaurants and bars.
