Day trip

We will be in Austin for a wedding in a couple of weeks and we only have time to take a day trip and not stay overnight in San Antonio.

Can you please recommend some things to do while we are there? Thinking of heading into town late in the morning and coming back to Austin after dinner.

My boyfriend and I are in our late 20%26#39;s and up for anything. Thanks!

Day trip

The major items to see are (1) Alamo (2) Riverwalk (3) some or all of the other missions (San Jose most restored)

Day trip

Those were actually some of the things we had in mind. Thanks!

Oh, how sad you don%26#39;t have time to spend a night in SA. I agree with what wesheltoni mention here is a few more that you may want to consider as well.

Tower of the Americas www.toweroftheamericas.com

SA River Cruise which is a 35 min narrated cruise www.riosanantonio.com

San Fernando Cathedral www.sfcathedral.org

Market Square www.marketsquaresa.com

The Guenther House www.guentherhouse.com

Have lunch in the Market Square area at La Margarita www.lamargarita.com or Mi Tierra www.mitierracafe.com

Have dinner at Boudros www.boudros.com on the RW make sure you get the guacamole prepared tableside with a prickly pear margarita. Biga on the Banks www.biga.com also is very nice place to eat or have steak at Saltgrass or Texas Land %26amp; Cattle.

Have a great visit in SA!!!!!

I would stop off in Gruene TX..in b/w Aus and SA

just off the freeway..you could take an hour or so to do this.

dance hall, wine tasting, restaurant terraced over the Guadalupe river etc

www.gruenetexas.com

www.gruenehall.com

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

We%26#39;re having dinner at the Chart House since we have a gift certificate and this location has a much better view compared the ';lake'; in Scottsdale, AZ. Not sure which place we will choose for lunch. Thinking either La Margarita or Boudro%26#39;s.

Looks like we%26#39;ll check out the Alamo, the Riverwalk and Market Square since they are close to each other and either San Jose Mission or San Fernando Catherdral or both if we have time.

I%26#39;m really looking forward to our trip. Thanks again!

If you have to pick between San Fernando or Mission San Jose I would go with the mission, just a little more interesting IMO.!!!!

BTW there is a trolley/streetcar to get around in the downtown area that can make it easier %26amp; it only cost $1.10 www.viainfo.net/Busservice/Streetcar.aspx

Thank you for all your help. We had an amazing day in San Antonio. Lunch at Boudro%26#39;s was excellent. I loved the prickley pear margarita and the blue crab tostada had so much crab. Yummy! The River Walk was pretty cool. We went to the Alamo and had time to see all of the missions. The Chart House at the Tower of the Americas also had an amazing view.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I have to agree about the Prickly Pear Margarita it%26#39;s very good %26amp; I totally agree with the view from the Tower at Chart House.

Glad to hear that you had a great short visit in SA %26amp; got to visit the Alamo as well as the missions.

Thanks again for sharing your SA experience.!!!!
