Will be travelling to America on our way to Australia.
We have been to SF,L Vegas,Nassville...and would like to go somewhere thats not to expensive with direct flight from UK.
Want to get the best out of these 3 days in Sept if we can.
Don%26#39;t have any special interest...so very flexible.
Thanks for your help

Just 3 days in America
Can you get to San Antonio direct from the UK?
If so, it%26#39;s a great stopover. You would enjoy it...
If not, of the places I have been to, I would suggest (for affordable):
1. Tampa / St Petersburg (GREAT beaches!)
2. Washington DC (yes, you CAN have an affordable trip there, but you have to shop for it)
3. Orlando
4. San Diego
5. Chicago
6. Boston (can also be affordable -- see DC comment)
7. Seattle
8. Houston
9. Atlanta
10. DFW
It%26#39;s all subjective, of course...
I can%26#39;t think of much else that I know has direct flights from the UK. I left Miami, LA, and NYC off the list, because you specifically mentioned ';affordable.';
I%26#39;d put San Antonio at around 4.5-7.5 on the list, personally. I love the town, but each town in that range has something the others can%26#39;t compete with.

Thanks Mike for the list....will make my way slowly through it.
No direct flight to San Antonio but cost is 拢1182 for both of us one way.....so have to do some searching on this a well,as i cant really afford that price.

If you got a direct flight to Houston you could than use a local airline to get to SA very reasonable like www.southwest.com from Houston to SA it would be like $78 or you could rent a car %26amp; drive from Houston to SA, it%26#39;s a 3 hr drive.
San Antonio has a lot to offer, lots to see %26amp; do %26amp; very friendly city. Just a thought!!!!!!!
Have fun planning.
My top 3 cities in America are 1)San Diego(best weather) and great beaches...2() NYC(self explanatory) 3)Tie between Miami Beach/Ft. Lauderdale area and Boston....
Atlantic Seaboard would have nice weather in September. Washington DC area; upstate New York.
Renting a car is inexpensive and a two or three hour drive would get you away from expensive cities.
Have now decided to stay in San Antonio for 2 weeks in Sept.
Would love to do several day train trips, just for leisure and views.
Any advice or help please ?
Thanks Sandy
Not much in the way of train trips in Texas. We have Amtrak, but that%26#39;s near pointless here.
With two weeks, you%26#39;ll want to get a car, and probably an extended stay hotel. There%26#39;s a lot to do within an hour%26#39;s drive, and more if you give it two hours...
I agree it would be better to rent a car, we don%26#39;t have train trip like you have in Europe, wish we did!!!
The Car is king in America mostly because the distances are large and the population density is not nearly as high as in Europe. Not to start a fight, but Pruske why do you wish we had trains like they do in Europe?
Octoboy have you been to Europe??? When we were there we loved taking the trains to the different city, they are fast %26amp; always on time, you could see the countryside %26amp; be very comfortable. My DH said he wish USA had something like that but our train system is nothing like the ones in Europe, it was a great easy way to get around %26amp; very reasonable.
