Hi i will be coming to LA in june to visit family from UK. I also have family in Dallas so will need to get to Dallas from LA.
I have few questions really.
What is the best way to get to Dallas from LA. I would think flying is best right?
if flight, what sort of prices am i looking at? also can someone recommend some websites for cheap internal flights within USA (am not familiar with any USA airlines/agents at all so some cheap and reputable ones)
also with booking internal flights, if i was to book, there wouldn%26#39;t be any problems with booking them from outside the US with british passport?
thanks very much for your help.

LA to DallasIt depends on time, budget, whether you want to see anything in between (e.g. Grand Canyon, Santa Fe, etc.). The easiest, fastest way is, of course, flying. www.kayak.com is a good source to find flights. Whether you%26#39;ll have any problems with a UK credit card, I%26#39;ve no idea.
LA to DallasSouthwest and American have a huge presence in Dallas. Check those two web sites and then check Hotwire and Priceline. Between the four, you should be able to a competitive price.
Going to Southwest Airlines website directly may be good. They are always running specials of some sort, as long as you are two weeks out. And they do not charge for checked luggage.
If you have time, the drive from Los Angeles to Dallas could be fantastic, particularly if you take the somewhat northerly route that takes you through Northern Arizona and New Mexico (as opposed to the more Southern freeways that route you through Phoenix, Tuscon and El Paso). It is, however, very very far.
If you choose to fly, don%26#39;t neglect Southwest Airlines. It will almost certainly be the least expensive option and its service is quite good. Another plus is that it uses some of the ';smaller'; airports such as Burbank in L.A. and Love Field in Dallas that are much easier to manage than the mega-airports like LAX and DFW. I doubt you have problems with booking. Two caveats: First, for legal reasons too boring to explain, there are no non-stops available from California to Texas on Southwest. A very short stop somewhere like Phoenix or Albuquerque is inevitable. Second, Southwest doesn%26#39;t use travel cites like Travelocity etc. It is necessary to use their own cite--www.southwest.com
While I like Southwest, they are not inevitably less expensive than other airlines. Anywhere they are in competition prices are about the same. And depending upon who%26#39;s doing what price-wise you can find real deals on specific vendors sites like American.
Right now American has got some real deals going.
Normally you can buy tickets or anything else in the US using your card, unless your card issuer has some restrictions. Call your card vendor and ask what the restrictions are for international travel and also ask what the fees are!! And when they%26#39;re charged.
Some US card holders charge transaction fees not only if you%26#39;re out of the country, but if you pay for something while in the US, but the $$$ is ultimately going to a foreign venue. In the US the only credit card company that I%26#39;m aware of that is not yet charging international fees (most charge 3% of the transaction) is Capital One.
Definitely check kayak, but also check the airline%26#39;s own website, and if there are codeshare flights be sure and check both airlines.
I was pricing Atlanta to Copenhagen the other day and found Delta with a $1000 ticket, and Air France (I think that was the other one) same exact flights, but pricing at $1150.
Also, as a prior poster mentioned, if you%26#39;re flying don%26#39;t forget to consider bag fees. Southwest is the only US vendor not charging bag fees.
American charges $15 for the first bag, and $25 for the 2nd. However, you can take two bags on-board with you. One has to be personal sized like a briefcase/handbag/computer bag, and one can be up to 22'; in length, different heights for different airlines depending upon the size of their overhead bins.
Definitely do not bring any lotions/fluids in greater than 100 ml containers, and all these must fit into a 1-qt size baggie (available at the airports check-in if you don%26#39;t have one). And yes, water is a fluid (you wouldn%26#39;t believe how many times I%26#39;ve heard people question whether water is a fluid as they drop their bottle in the trash).
