Need Advice: Things To Do

Aside from the Alamo %26amp; Riverwalk, what else is there to do? We are planning a 2-3 day trip, with no kids.

Also, is walking in downtown feasible? Or is a car recommended?

Thanks is advance -

Walking downtown is very feasible + we have the trolley which only cost $1.10 to get around when you don%26#39;t feel like walking.

If you plan to stay in the downtown area then you don%26#39;t need a car. Have a great time %26amp; visit.

OOoops!!! gave you the wrong website for Route 7 the Sightseer special. www.viainfo.net/Busservice/Schedules.aspx

With a car, of course, the options grow quite a bit. Within 30 miuntes, there are quite a few activities in the San Antonio area, including the historic missions, several caves, ranches, boating, camping, etc...

Intothenow, what kinds of things do you like to do? Shopping? Sight seeing? Nature? Small Town - Big City? Music? Dancing? Relaxing? Maximizing the things you do? If you%26#39;ll give us some more info, we can steer you in the right direction.

As to renting a car we get asked this a lot and it really depends on you. On any trip I take I always like having a car. In towns with a lot of congestion and good public transportation (Boston, Chicago) I%26#39;ll forgo the car when staying downtown but rent one when I move out to the burbs. I have been known to rent a car for just a day or two.

Pros: Freedom to come and go on your schedule (public transportation usually stops or is greatly reduced around 10 or 11 pm. and weekends) Cheap, usually around 15 bucks a day (transportation to and from the airport is usually more than that.) Allows you to get to less touristy spots.

Cons: Parking at a downtown hotel is usually expensive, and driving in an unfamiliar city can be stressful.
