A Short but Sweet Stay

My better half and I were visiting her sister in Fort Worth and took a short 5 hour road trip to Fredericksburg for 2 nights and 3 days.

We decided to stay at Clear Springs Log Cabin located 8 miles North of Town on Highway 16 (Llano Road) in North Fredericksburg. This little place doesn%26#39;t seem to get much attention on the web, but it deserves more.

Vernon and Bernice Fluitt run this 1,000 acre working ranch and provide accommodations in a single 1840%26#39;s log cabin/barn that has been painstakingly remodeled into a small suite. A nice living room, Queen bedroom, large bathroom with a 7 foot Jacuzzi tub and a small but well thought out kitchen. Artifacts documenting the property%26#39;s history are found inside and out.

The front and back yard are very nicely planted with seasonal flowers and attract a delightful number of birds.

A wonderful full hot breakfast is made by Bernice in the main house each morning and delivered by Vernon to the cabin at 8:30 sharp.

The Fluitts hospitality and warmth is charming. This is really a country experience. The mile long drive onto the property along the gravel road really leaves all one%26#39;s thoughts of the big city behind.

We spent a morning East of Town at the Wildseed Farm. Had a nice lunch there and bought some sussies for sis.

Had a great afternoon in Town at the shops and then a great German Dinner.

I had to make a stop at Coopers BBQ in Llano. I know this place has gotten some mixed reviews, but when we ate lunch there they were right on the mark that day. The brisket, jalapeno links and ribs were fantastic.

I also had to stop at Lairds BBQ across the bridge. Maybe the best brisket I%26#39;ve tasted so far.

I work in the Hospitality trade and I have to tip my hat to the great job that Fredericksburg has done in offering so many wonderful attractions and places to stay.

We look forward to returning.

Nice trip report. Thanks for sharing the details of your visit.

It%26#39;s my pleasure to contribute. Texas is a huge Country...er...State ;-), with many attractions. The Fredericksburg area is a gem in my opinion.
