Where to stay near DWF

We are flying into Dallas Fort Worth Airport and would like to stay somewhat close where there are a couple of good restaurants and maybe something of interest to do near by our hotel We are mainly there for business and will be going to Garland, Desoto, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, and Mesquite. I would welcome suggestions as to What area to stay. Someone mentioned Irving; however I am open to suggestions as I don%26#39;t know the area very well.

You might also look at staying in downtown Dallas since it will be central to all 5 cities.

Where to stay near DWF

I would recommend Las Colinas. There are several hotels there--from Marriotts, Omni, ALoft, Courtyard by Marriott--etc. It is close to several highways and tons of restaurants around. Downtown Dallas is only about a 15 minute drive from there. Feel free to email with questions.

It really depends upon what you%26#39;re doing and the travel times to these areas. If you%26#39;re going to be going out and coming back during the regular major traffic times, I wouldn%26#39;t stay in Irving or Las Colinas as you%26#39;ll be dealing with traffic going and coming. I%26#39;d agree with PoodleOne to look at the downtown central areas as then you%26#39;re going against traffic.

Las Colinas/Irving does have lots of hotels and restaurants, but not much to do other than shop.

If you%26#39;re not looking to pay downtown hotel rates (but there are some deals on the net) there is a Best Western and LaQuinta on I-75 in the Knox Henderson area that are reasonably priced and definitely close to lots of restaurants. Things to do would be downtown.

You will also have easy access to Northpark and the Galleria from central I-75.

Note that any hotel on the I-635 and I-75 intersection is going to be in heavy traffic and I wouldn%26#39;t stay in that area.

Southlake

The Hilton there is perfectly nice. Truluck%26#39;s, Blue Mesa, and Cristina%26#39;s are all great restaurants in their genres.

Grapevine

The Hilton DFW and the Embassey Suite are really nice hotels. Grapevine also has one of the better bed and breakfasts in the area. Also numerous other lodgings in the area for all price points

Ferrari%26#39;s, Cafe Italia, Esparza%26#39;s, Bob%26#39;s, and Dino%26#39;s are all solid restaurants.

Farina%26#39;s and Into the Glass are both really neat locally owned wine bars.

Music on a regular basis at Wilhoite%26#39;s, Chill, the Back Porch as well as at Tolbert%26#39;s and Tap-in Grill on the weekends.

Lots of wine tasting rooms. Shopping at small souvenir shops on Main street or at the Grapevine Mall. In fact Southlake Town Square is virutally two miles away.

This may actually be a better sight for learning about Grapevine;

There is simply so much to do in the Grapevine/Southlake area that there really is nothing else like it in north Texas. Strolling main street is a popular past time for many coming from all over the country. It really comes alive at night with the restaurant and music scene.Trying the local wineries. The night life rivals anything in north Texas. from the Glass Cactus at the Gaylord Texan resort to hard driving rock and roll at Wilhoite%26#39;s to country music at the Back Porch.

Watching the sun go down over lake Grapevine on the patio at the Glass Cactus is a popular local endeavor.

The weather on the lake is warm enough for water sports and rentals are available at Silver Marina.

Shopping is great in downtown Grapevine and Southlake Town Square. Grapevine Mills Mall is also another posibility.

If you want a casual but fun place, Grapevine?Southlake is it. Also if you happen to be past 40 you won%26#39;t fill out of place in any of the clubs.
