Hotel or BB for Memorial day Weekend

Hello Everybody

I and my girl friend are planning to come to Galveston during the Memorial Day Weekend. We are in 20s. This is our first trip. I did not see many good reviews about any Hotels. Our budget is around $150-$200 per night. Can anyone help us decide between a good Hotel or a Bed and Breakfast place which should be in walking distance from most of the activities and places (like the beach, restaurants, clubs etc)

PS: I have never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast place. So don’t know what to expect from them.

Thanks in advance

Ooh!

Stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Galveston. Yes!

I%26#39;m excited because I think it it is such a great idea. I hate the hotels in Galveston and I think supporting small business there is the best thing anyone can do.

I stayed at the Lost Bayou Guesthouse May 2nd for 166 dollars and some change. The Garden Room is beautiful but you guys might want something more romantic. The Oleander room was large and sumptuous, with a french claw foot bathtub. I stayed by myself (moms escape weekend) but if I had brought hubby that was the one I would have chosen. I think Phil does romantic packages too. www.lostbayou.com

A bed and breakfast is good for a quiet, intimate experience. You can hide in your room and nobody will bother you, but if you want something extra, you have someone there just waiting to help you out. For that kind of service in Galveston you usually need to pay 250+.

At the Lost Bayou, there was a cute little garden in the back, an observation deck on the very top of the house and a room down the hall full of 24 hour snacks, coffee, drinks, movies and books. He even had a chocolate cake when I was there. It was delicious. There is private parking or you can park on the street and best of all, 24 hour axcess to all areas by electronic key, so very safe.

The Lost Bayou is about five blocks from the seawall and a short drive to Broadway. The other ones close to the Seawall are Avenue O and Coastal Dreams. Rumors spread and I%26#39;ve heard good things about both of those. They are next on my list. :)

Just a heads up, TripAdvisor dosnt really have alot of info about Bed and Breakfasts so try www.bedandbreakfast.com.

Hmmm, I can also tell you confidently and with much experience do not stay at any of the following: Anything under $200 a night on the seawall, Days Inn, The Comfort Inns, the Hampton Inn, Moody Gardens Hotel. The Hilton Resort is ok, though I wouldnt stay if I wasnt a Hilton Rewards member.

Have fun, Galveston is great!
