Trip for 3-4. Want to do some offshore fishing but also want to do some pier or beach fishing. Is Port Aransas the right place for me? If so, any suggestions on inexpensive fishing guides?
June Fishing Trip
Hi
I use Dolphin Docks for my deep sea fishing .They do a good job. They also have some bay fishing trips. The Island Queen is also a great way to bay fish it is very kid frindly becouse of the size [ car farie converted to a fishing boat] the price is cheap for a 4 hr trip [ about $30.00 ].There are a number of Docks that has guides and boat in Port A.The Sports Plex run trip everyday also.
Hope this helps

June Fishing Trip
Thank you David. I think i am fixed on PA as it looks like it offers a variety of motels/hotels and guides. Plus it looks like pier fishing is an option.
Do you know if Beach fishing is allowed and is that a productive way to fish?
Yes there is alot of places to beach fish. You can fish the beach in Port A or i like to drive about 20 miles south to Padre Island Natinal Seashore,it a park with about 60 mile of nothing but shoreline. You have to have a 4-wheel drive to go past about 10 mile from the office/store. There is few people and i think the water looks better.Use live bait if you can,you can buy it in Port A.OR you can also fish the bay at port A,cross the ferry north and there is alot of places to pull off and fish again live bait .The Channel View Condo in PA has there own pier that is lighted and i really like to stay there. You can fish 24/7 and i have done really well there. There is also a pay pier [ never done well ] as well as 2 small public.

the pier is great! Lit up at night and private for Channel View guests only. No need to pack up all your stuff and drive to a pier, you are just steps away from your condo.
Of course, you always have the jetties. But be careful, you can lose a lot of bait and tackle out there. I recommend you invest in a little aerator and buy some live shrimp. You can do pretty good off the jetties speckeled trout, redfish, sheepshead) on live bait-but stay off bottom.
Well i was set on PA then my brother got online and saw the pics of Padre...now he doesnt mind driving an extra 2 hrs to get there. I am trying to convince him that PA will also have nice restaurant/bar venues but no luck thus far.
Fishing is better in PA, but South Padre does have more good restaurants to pick from.
We also will be making our yearly trip to PA and we always go in June.(2nd week) We always take a deep sea charter with either Dolphin Docks or the Warf Cat,(not pricey) its decent fishing. we only take the short charter (5hr).This year however we are going to try a bay fishing charter because its more fishing time for our money. Our favorite place to fish is the public pier at the park close to the ferry. We usually fish late night there (like 10pm to 3am)for us its always been the best fishing in PA.We have caught shark, redfish, eel, blue crab, and a bunch of big ugly fish that put up a great fight which I love. We have always had great luck at the pier. Also we have had good luck at St. Joe Island beach fishing(they have all day boat rides back and forth-get there early and make sure you have everything you need,as they have no water or food on the island)hope this was helpful. have a great time. (favorite accomodations if your interested is A Laughing Horse Lodge, bldg 6 through 12,best management in town)
