Natural Bridge Wildlife Park/Hill Country

Would you recommend this for adults? Sounds like much more fun than the zoo. How much time should we expect to spend there? If we have 1 day, can we do the cave tour %26amp; wildlife park %26amp; still have time to see some of the Hill Country? Is Hill Country the best place for BBQ? We%26#39;ve been to the Riverwalk before but haven%26#39;t ventured outside the city of SA.

Natural Bridge Wildlife Park/Hill Country

You can feed the animals from your car. I like the Caverns much better.

BBQ - acceptable choices in New Braunfels - Coopers, and Rudys.

Salt Lick is the closest to Hill Country spots.

The Wild Life Ranch is a good place to go but so is the zoo. It all depends on which meets your personal preference %26amp; which meets your criteria better. Driving thru can take up to 3 hours if you visit all of it. You could easily to the Wild Life Ranch %26amp; the Caverns in the same dame but the Hill Country would probably need to be done on another day.

A drive to Luling City Market BBQ would be your easiest to get to from the Caverns. It would be about a 30 - 45 min drive but I believe they close at 5 pm so it all depends on when you finish.

When are you planning on coming to SA cause it depends on how early it gets dark here. If you come closer to summer time %26amp; the days are longer you could take a drive in the Hill Country on the same day if not then it would be to dark %26amp; you wouldn%26#39;t be able to see the spectacular view.

We visit Natural Bridge Wildlife Park EVERY time we are in SA. My kids love it~we love it!!!!! I have been to the zoo(during feast with the beast) and will never go back! You can go through the NBW at your own pace~you don%26#39;t have to get out and fight the crowds. We have been at diffrent times of the day and never took longer than an hour to get through. BE AWARE the ostrich will peck the crap out of your car! We have tried to do the caves a few times and never get to actually go down in them. There is always a 1-2 hour wait to go down. So instead we take in the sights, do some ';mining for gems'; and eat a picnic lunch there on the grounds. As for driving around hill country if you go up to NBW early and be one of the first cars through you will have plenty of time to take in the sights. ENJOY yourself and have a great time~we are coming back down that way in March.

Thanks Shpnfrk830. Your info is just what I was looking for. Sea World would have been my first choice, but since it%26#39;s closed this time of yr we%26#39;ll do NBW %26amp; go early, then on to sightseeing.

bonk810 you didn%26#39;t say when you are coming to SA but SeaWorld will be open on the last Weekend in Feb 28 %26amp; during Spring Break %26amp; all the Weekends in March if that helps any.

We are now in San Antonio and the adults are interested in seeing hill country but is there anything to do for 4 kids once we get there? We would like to get to hill country in a short amount of time and not spend all day driving if possible. Kids are interested in seeing a ranch or something like that. Thanks for your help

In the Hill Country you have the Enchanted Springs Ranch which is a working dude ranch. www.enchantedspringsranch.com

Bandera Texas is the Cowboy Capital of the World

I hope this is what you are looking for in the Hill Country.

Have a great time %26amp; please write a TR when you get back to let us know how it went in th Hill Country %26amp; in SA.

Thanks for the advice. We ended up going to Enchanted Springs Ranch. We really enjoyed it. I don%26#39;t know if I would think the money was worth it without kids but the owners made sure we got involved in everything they have to offer. The kids went for a short horseback ride, went on a wagon ride and saw some of the animals on the ranch, got a picture sitting on top a long horned steer, checked out the old west town which was awesome and watched the Pistol Packin Paula show. I also paid $5 to have my husband arrested and jailed and was worth every penny to watch my kids reactions. It was only a 20 minute drive for us and gave us a chance to see some of hill country. This was a great day out for a family with kids both young and older plus we brought the grandparents who thoroughly enjoyed it. Went to the rodeo last night and enjoyed that as well. I will do full reports of our trip after we return to the snow.
