Just got back last night May 9th, stayed at Hyatt Place river walk, 601 South Mary%26#39;s .Was real hot but still enjoyed the trip and city very much.
Hyatt Place River Walk is a good place to stay if you can walk a couple or three blocks. The Alamo is a little farther but all are nice walks. You can go the river route which takes a little longer or the town route which is faster but city traffic and lights to contend with.
Hyatt Place has a great manager (Gary) You will meet him if you stay there, he is around and about overseeing everything and does an excellent job running the place. Staff is friendly and helpful,
One morning I spilled my whole cup of coffee in the lobby, one girl came running to clean it up and was so nice about telling me not to worry it was just completely alright, even got me another cup to replace it.
I have lots more to report but for now, I will go. If anyone has ?s just let me know and I will try to answer them.
We had some real good Italian food, both places close to the hotel, One of them a real local place the other in the Fairmont Hotel, called Luca%26#39;s about 2 blocks south on St. Mary%26#39;s, called La Forgoiga (missed spelled) but easy to find. Just ask at the desk.
We also had lunch atop the Tower of America, its a Chart House and very expensive, lunch is a better option, you save the fee to go up at $11.95 and with the meal you still get to see the view. Its a personal choice. They try to upsale everythig in the restuarant but just order what you want and let it go at that. Try to find local places as the River Walk restuarants are all expensive. The best River Walk place is Casa Rio, the oldest place on the river, where all the colorful umbrellas are. Food is fair and prices are good.
San Antonia is a nice clean and friendly city. We had never been there so we were really pleased with our trip.
Have fun, Buck
